A-Jin (played by Michelle Yeoh), a martial arts master from the mainland, comes to Hong Kong to make a living and initially works as a stunt double in film studios. Due to her exceptional skills and strong work ethic, she soon becomes a female martial artist and forms a close partnership with fight coordinator Pi Li (played by Sammo Hung). After a chance encounter with SAM (played by Huang Jia Nuo), A-Jin falls in love and leaves the film set to join SAM in Shenzhen, helping him manage a karaoke business. Gradually, she realizes that her role in SAM's life resembles more of a "bodyguard," and with SAM's flirtatious nature, A-Jin eventually leaves Shenzhen heartbroken and returns to Hong Kong to resume her life at the film studio. With Pi Li's encouragement and support, she rebuilds her confidence and quickly finds herself again.
Not long after, Pi Li is killed by gangsters while mediating a conflict between martial artists, and his son Ya Lang faces the risk of being killed as well. In a critical moment, A-Jin confronts the gangsters in a life-and-death struggle with Ya Lang by her side.
