Construction worker Li Sanbei (played by Bi Jianchang) has a low level of education, which often troubles him. College student Qin Shuzhen (played by Li Changle) is a night school teacher. At first, she looks down on Sanbei, considering him a foolish student suited only for manual labor. However, after understanding Sanbei's background, she changes her original perspective. A few years later, through hard work and study, Sanbei has grown into a "local expert" capable of reading architectural blueprints. During a construction job, in pursuit of speed, he neglects to learn from the experienced old workers, leading to a failure and resulting in serious injuries. After the incident, Sanbei takes the initiative to admit his mistakes, while Master Gao (played by Wang Ban) and Qin Shuzhen also engage in self-criticism.
