After the start of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Han, Uighur, Mongol, Hui, and other ethnic groups in the sandy city of western China raised five thousand taels of gold to support the resistance. In order to ensure that this anti-Japanese funding reached the military and civilians safely, the local elders selected the young and brave camel driver, Tuolong, for the transport mission. After the caravan set off, Jin Chizi's family, known for their oracle girl, insisted on following the caravan to seek a livelihood. Shopkeeper Liu from the "Ha Sheng" agreed to this, seeing Jin Chizi's beauty. Tuolong had doubts but had no choice. That night, the caravan camped at a beacon tower. Under the light of the bonfire, Jin Chizi's family sang and danced joyfully, while Tuolong gazed dreamily at Jin Chizi's captivating dance, lost in thought. When the caravan reached the Devil’s City in the vast desert, they encountered a group of bandits. For the safety of the caravan, Tuolong resolutely entered the bandits' den alone. Bandit leader Zhu Tietou forced Tuolong to leave half of the gold behind, but Tuolong, with his intelligence and courage, suddenly aimed his gun at Zhu Tietou, managing to escape the danger. The caravan continued its journey when suddenly a group of cavalry surrounded them, forcibly requisitioning the camels and taking Tuolong away. That night, Jin Chizi devised a clever plan to rescue Tuolong, but unbeknownst to her, Tsar Xiong, who was betrothed to Jin Chizi since childhood, took advantage of the chaos to steal the gold. Due to a lack of water and food, Jin Chizi fell ill with a fever and was near death. Seeing this, Tuolong killed his beloved red gelding and used its blood to revive Jin Chizi. Jin Chizi took off the flower pouch from her chest and gave it to Tuolong, expressing her affection for him. Upon discovering the gold had been stolen, Jin Chizi was very anxious and persuaded Tsar Xiong to return the gold to Tuolong. However, Tsar Xiong, fearing she would leak the news, ordered his men to put Jin Chizi into a sack. Tuolong formally proposed to Jin Chizi's parents but was rejected, so he hurried to find Jin Chizi. He defeated Tsar Xiong and his men and rescued Jin Chizi. The caravan reached the Wild Wolf Pass, where Zhu Tietou led the bandits in pursuit; a fierce battle claimed the lives of Jin Chizi and Shopkeeper Liu, but Tuolong ultimately preserved the gold. As the sun rose slowly from the desert, Tuolong protected this anti-Japanese funding as he headed into the distance.
