Taoist Master Ying Shu (played by Lam Ching-ying) has the ambition to establish his own sect and leads five disciples in diligent practice every day. He is straightforward and lives a humble life, having nothing to his name, and has to take on odd jobs to make ends meet. Ying Shu is entrusted to guard a large, empty mansion, where the six of them, left without shelter, temporarily reside. This mansion is inhabited by a pair of ghostly couple from the Qing Dynasty; the female ghost, Ah Juan (played by Loletta Lee), suffers from her husband's abuse. Ying Shu valiantly intervenes and drives the male ghost away. Ah Juan stays by his side, getting along well with the five disciples. Soon, the male ghost returns with companions seeking revenge. Ying Shu and his disciples showcase their powers once again to drive the ghosts away. Ah Juan also changes her submissive demeanor and stands up to her husband. Since then, she practices ghost-catching techniques with the disciples every day. A group of foreign gangsters, having received intel, learn that a large amount of gold is hidden in the mansion. They disguise themselves as church personnel to check in, attempting to harm Ying Shu and his companions, and seize the gold...
