A wealthy man passes away and donates most of his fortune to various charities, leaving only a mansion in Maine to his domineering stepdaughter, Kerry Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty). This mansion, named Whipstaff Manor, has a long history and is now so dilapidated that it is uninhabitable. Initially furious, Kerry discovers that the mansion might hide treasures, and she happily heads there with her lawyer, Dibbs (Eric Idle). To their surprise, they find that it is also inhabited by four ghosts. In pursuit of riches, greedy individuals try various ways to drive the ghosts away... This film won the 1996 Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Young Actor (Christina Ricci) and the 1996 Young Artist Award for Best Voice Performance (Malachi Pearson).
