This is a true movie that authentically depicts the history of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. With American forces intervening in the Pacific theater, the Japanese high commander Isoroku Yamamoto (played by Sô Yamamura) believes that the U.S. military is powerful and that a swift battle is necessary, as a protracted war with the Americans would not be advisable. Thus, the attack on Pearl Harbor, which he meticulously planned, officially commenced.Although the U.S. military had received information about a potential Japanese surprise attack from intercepted secret communications, most dismissed it, and the contents of the communications were not reported. Even on the day of the attack, when a U.S. soldier noticed an unusual group of airplanes on radar, the American commanders still believed it to be their own planes on a routine patrol mission.
