The film is adapted from the novel "The Perfect Suspect" by the "King of British Thrillers," Lee Child. Six bullets, five dead, a mysterious gunman creates a tragic incident in a bustling city, plunging the entire city into panic. All evidence points to former military sniper James Barr (Joseph Sikora). However, he insists on his innocence and demands that his old acquaintance Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) be brought in, as they both served in the military. As Jack delves deeper into the investigation, he uncovers a bigger mystery, revealing that the true culprit behind the tragic event seems to be someone else, while a sinister mastermind has captured Barr, leaving Jack to uncover the truth alone. One of the six bullets is intentionally empty, left by the killer. To understand the sniper's work, Jack visits a sniper training camp where he finds a coach named Samuel Cash (Robert Duvall). With the help of Cash, Barr's sister, and a lawyer, Jack slowly moves closer to the center of the event, unearthing a secret about Soviet reeducation camps and the Russian mafia...
