In a remote, pristine jungle in Papua New Guinea, there exists a giant cave known as the Mother of Caves—Isa Ala. Wealthy explorer Carl (played by Ioan Gruffudd) spares no expense, hiring the experienced caver Frank (played by Richard Roxburgh) and his team to explore the area. Months pass, and while the exploration of Isa Ala shows some results, progress remains slow. Meanwhile, a strong tropical storm is imminent, making cave exploration urgent. Carl and Frank have a heated argument, and the latter, in a last-ditch effort, dives into the water with his exhausted partner Jude (played by Allison Cratchley) to challenge the perilous passage known as the "Devil's Limit." On the other hand, Carl's girlfriend Victoria and Frank's son Josh also venture into the cave. Unbeknownst to them, disaster is approaching... This film is inspired by Andrew Wight's real-life experiences while caving in Western Australia, filmed using the 3D camera technology from Avatar.
