Ten thousand years ago in America, the Akani civilization flourished for a time. The Akani believed that the world was divided into two realms, light and darkness, with a portal connecting them. Records indicate that the Akani opened the door between the two worlds, allowing some monstrous creatures to wreak havoc in the world, after which the Akani mysteriously vanished. In the 1960s, the government established the supernatural research department 713, assigning Dr. Lionel Harkins (played by Matthew Walker) to study the Akani civilization, but his research was later discredited. Harkins hid on a small island, conducting cruel secret experiments on children, merging them with the monsters. In the early 21st century, a series of child disappearances occurred across various locations. Supernatural investigator Edward Carby (played by Christian Slater) was tasked with investigating the island, but as soon as he exited the airport, he was attacked by a mysterious figure.
