In the late Qing Dynasty, natural disasters and human calamities occurred continuously. The Chaoshan area faced a famine, and the common people were in turmoil. To survive, the impoverished masses flocked to the Nanzhu Temple to pray for divine aid. However, they were oppressed by the tyrant "Black Sand Palm" (played by Wang Chi), who occupied the temple. Boxer Wu Laodong, accompanied by his son Wu Jiatai (played by Wang Qun), went to confront him and fought against Black Sand Palm's gang. In the end, the elderly Wu Laodong met a tragic death at the hands of Black Sand Palm, while the overly proud Jiatai suffered severe injuries.
Following his father's dying wish, the fortunate survivor Jiatai decides to seek out Black Sand Palm's nemesis—the practitioner of the Mandarin Duck Leg technique, the performer Feng Lanyi. On his journey, Jiatai accidentally meets Zhu Fongni (played by Zong Qiaozhen), the heir to the Mandarin Duck Leg.
Adapted from the Chaoshan folk tale "Mandarin Duck Iron Shoes."
