Senior Inspector Ho Shang-sheng (Liu Qingyun) is called to the crime scene by the hostage-taker Yi Jian (Zheng Yijian) for negotiations. Witnessing Yi Jian's arrogance at the scene, Ho Shang-sheng is determined to capture him, but Yi Jian manages to escape. This defeat ignites Ho Shang-sheng's fighting spirit and curiosity, leading him to play a "ransom game" with Yi Jian. Ho Shang-sheng receives several remains of artworks sent by Yi Jian, and with the help of Interpol Ruby (Huang Zhuoling), discovers that the damaged artworks were all insured by the same international insurance company. He suspects that Yi Jian intends to extort the insurance company, and thus begins an investigation. Meanwhile, Yi Jian happens to call the company's executive Teresa (Lin Xilei) to extort ten million, and Shang-sheng immediately takes over the case, only to find that things are far from simple.
