Bandits are rampant, and Mu Ling (played by Ye Yuping) bravely fights against them alongside her father Sheng, successfully driving them away, but Sheng dies. When the officials arrive, they not only fail to offer assistance but also plunder Mu’s village. Ling, in her anger, accidentally kills the head of the officials and is subsequently hunted down. During her escape, she receives help from the silk merchant Du Ming (played by Wu Qiming), allowing her to evade capture. Han Yu (played by Liu Ximing), the instructor from the Eastern Factory, appreciates Ling's courage and pressures her to join the assassin organization he established. Ling resents this and tries to escape multiple times but ultimately accepts Yu's training. The Factory Head (played by Xu Zhongxin) inspects the training and believes that Ling has ulterior motives, ordering Yu to kill her. Yu devises a plan to save Ling and even puts his life on the line to ensure she does not die, deepening their bond. The Factory Head assigns Ling to participate in a mission to massacre the entire family of a clean official, and Ling discovers that it is actually the Du family. Unable to watch, she tries to stop the attack. The Factory Head orders Yu to kill Ling; however, Yu creates an opportunity for her to escape. When the Factory Head learns of this, he leads troops to hunt down the two, but they are outmatched. Just as they escape a perilous situation, Du Ming reappears, sacrificing himself alongside the Factory Head. Yu and Ling manage to flee, embarking on a journey together.
