Moses (Christian Bale) and Pharaoh Ramses II (Joel Edgerton) are close brothers with a deep bond. Moses receives the divine command and decides to rescue thousands of Jewish people from their suffering; he seeks help from Ramses, but his friend firmly refuses. Furthermore, Ramses carries out a brutal massacre of the Jews. To punish Ramses for his atrocities, God inflicts the "Ten Plagues" upon Egypt, plunging it into chaos and the shadow of death. However, Ramses does not learn from this, and ultimately, he and Moses become arch-rivals. Moses understands his mission; he leads 400,000 Hebrews on a lengthy journey in search of their own homeland.
