Engja (played by Arndís Hrönn Egilsdóttir) and Reynir are a married couple living in a remote and peaceful town, making a living by running a farm. Despite working very hard every day, their income is still insufficient to support their lives, simply because the Epsfeld Cooperative has monopolized the sales channels for agricultural products in the town. One day, Reynir tragically dies in a terrible car accident. After gradually emerging from her grief, Engja comes across shocking news that infuriates her—Reynir's death was not an accident, but related to the cooperative. Engja documents the numerous wrongdoings of the cooperative over the years and publishes them online, quickly igniting a media frenzy. Other local farmers who have been exploited by the cooperative also stand up in search of justice.
