Liz and Benny were both born into a family of color. At a literary gathering, Liz met the young and handsome white intellectual Tony. With a lighthearted enthusiasm, naive Liz disregarded her original suitor and threw herself into Tony's arms, engaging in a sexual relationship with him. However, when Tony discovered that Liz was not white, especially when he saw Liz's dark-skinned older brother with thick lips, a feeling of disgust arose within him. Liz suffered for a while, but eventually, the pursuit of a black youth pulled her from the abyss. Liz's older brother Benny was inherently rebellious and often roamed the streets with a few friends. Although he himself was not white, he sometimes harbored disdain for the vulgarity of black people. Regarding the issues between races, he seemed to only observe from the sidelines, detached but inevitably despondent.
