Today, Singapore is a city with a low crime rate and relatively safe living conditions. However, a low crime rate does not mean that there are no crimes; while crime is rare, vigilance is still necessary. This brand new documentary drama series "Crime Scene" reexamines several serious crimes that occurred in the past. Through interviews with retired detectives, forensic experts, crime reporters, criminal behavior psychologists, and other legal professionals, along with reenactments of the cases, the series analyzes the circumstances surrounding each crime. The new series consists of five episodes, exploring the behaviors and psychology of various murderers. Among them is 19-year-old serial killer Xue Jinhua, who callously killed five people in less than a month in 1983; the series attempts to uncover the reasons behind this young man's violent actions through the analysis of modern criminal behavior. Just before the Chinese New Year in 1979, a couple operating a school bus business returned home from work, only to witness four young children brutally murdered in their home by an assailant wielding a knife, leaving the cold-blooded murderer at large and a multitude of unsolved mysteries that remain to this day. Can today’s advanced forensic technologies, such as DNA analysis, bring forth a breakthrough in this unresolved murder case? In 2005, a cleaner was going about her duties at Kallang River Park when she stumbled upon a bag containing dismembered female remains! After the police were notified, they conducted a thorough investigation both at the scene and across the island, discovering more remains in a highly decomposed state. This episode focuses on how forensic experts and investigators closely collaborate, racing against time to untangle the case, utilizing forensic techniques like DNA analysis to identify the victim and swiftly apprehend the murderer, bringing him to justice. In 1963, the sensational case of Hong Shan Ni murdering his girlfriend went to trial, where the prosecution, unprecedentedly, charged the defendant with murder without having found the victim's body. The prosecution used a series of circumstantial evidence and witness testimonies to prove the defendant had premeditated motives to kill, and Hong Shan Ni was ultimately sentenced to death.
