In 1927, George Valentin (played by Jean Dujardin) is the best silent film actor. Every time he takes the stage, he makes the audience roar with laughter. His beloved dog is the perfect supporting role, while other actresses have to take a backseat. During a media interview, he unexpectedly encounters a very attention-seeking woman, Peppy Miller (played by Bérénice Bejo). Although she steals the spotlight, he remains charming and composed. However, this headline overshadows his new film, much to his boss's displeasure and his wife's jealousy. Later, Peppy makes her way through Hollywood, and coincidentally reunites with George, causing him to become unsettled and frequently mess up his lines. Subsequently, after a fallout with his boss, George decides to become independent, writing, directing, and starring in his own films. Meanwhile, Peppy swiftly rises to fame thanks to the advent of sound films, becoming a top star. Eventually, his silent film clashes with her talkie at the box office, leading to a showdown between old and new, emotions and revenue... This film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy at the 69th Golden Globe Awards, and Jean Dujardin won Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, as well as the Best Actor award at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.
