A BBC television movie, this film is based on a true story, grounded in extensive facts, and received the cooperation and support of the parties involved and their families to faithfully reconstruct the entire event. In August 2007, Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were attacked in a park by a gang of youths. Twenty-one-year-old Robert was seriously injured, and twenty-year-old Sophie was beaten to death, all simply because they dressed as Goths. Sophie died for being different. A heart-wrenching film from start to finish, with perfectly timed flashback narratives, starring Nico Mirallegro, Abigail Lawrie, and Chanel Cresswell. Robert loves to paint, Sophie loves reading Harry Potter, and these two young lovers tried to protect each other even while bleeding out; the two main perpetrators of this murder were just 15 and 16 years old. On August 24, 2007, twenty-year-old Sophie Lancaster was kicked to death in a park by a gang of kids. She and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were attacked because they were dressed as Goths. Sophie was murdered for being different.
