The debut feature film "My Parents Died, But I Don't Want to Cry," directed by the up-and-coming Japanese director Makoto Nagai, astonishingly won the Special Jury Award for Global Narrative Feature at the Sundance Film Festival as well as a Special Mention from the Youth Jury in the Next Generation section at the Berlin International Film Festival. It tells the story of four teenagers who, faced with the death of their parents, are unable to shed genuine tears. Like cold-blooded zombies, they decide to form a band and embark on a long journey in search of tears and blood. The film employs a fun RPG game format, allowing the audience to join the characters in battling monsters and overcoming challenges. In addition to the outstanding performances of the young cast, it also features top actors such as Masatoshi Nagase, Rinko Kikuchi, Sosuke Ikematsu, and Kōno Shōgo, representing different generations’ spirits.
