"Engraving Joy in the Voice of January" is an original project that started as an independent film, based on a "certain incident" that Mishima has been facing for 47 years. Set in Nakajima of Lake Toya in Hokkaido, Hachijojima of the Izu Islands in Tokyo, and Dojima in Osaka, it depicts the inner conflict surrounding "Reiko," who plays an important role in the story. The theme of "Ark" connects three stories about three individuals, "those who go by boat," "those who wait for the boat," and "those who come by boat," each wounded in their hearts. When the stories, progressing on separate "islands," converge at a common point, surprising truths are revealed.
