Shi Jingshui (played by Stephen Chow) and Wu Daiti (played by Eric Tsang) grew up together in the countryside, having been childhood sweethearts who promised to be with each other for life. Due to Daiti's father's opposition, the couple had to elope to the city for a better life. At first, Jingshui faced many hardships in finding a job, and the couple lived a frugal life. After securing a job, Jingshui worked diligently and earned the recognition and support of his boss, Nancy.
