72-year-old grandmother Mo Sun (played by Ra Mi-ran) has been living alone for many years, accustomed to her solitary life. Little did she know that one day, an unexpected guest would arrive at her home. Under the eaves of her house sits a shy little girl, who is carrying a baby still in swaddling clothes on her back. The girl tightly clutches a package, and after tearing it apart, Mo Sun discovers that it contains the ashes of her daughter, who has been missing for many years. The two girls are actually her biological granddaughters, Gong Ju (played by Kim Soo-ahn) and Jin Ju. Overwhelmed with mixed emotions, the elderly woman decides to take in the two children, but perhaps due to her long-standing loneliness, she naturally feels uncomfortable with Gong Ju's presence.
