The film is based on the real Battle of Yangshan. The well-equipped enemy 66th Infantry Division, commanded by Chiang Kai-shek's favored disciple Song Ruike, relied on the natural defenses of Yangshan to stubbornly resist, resulting in major casualties for our army during the initial assault. Under the command of Commander Chen Zaidao, our 2nd and 3rd Divisions promptly summarized the lessons learned, adjusted their strategies, and engaged in a bloody battle of wits and courage against the cunning Song Ruike. This film does not elaborate on the battle process but instead uses the background of the Battle of Yangshan to tell a little-known, dramatic story through the fate of thirty-two trapped soldiers from the 7th Company and battlefield reporter Liu Ying, celebrating the fearless spirit of revolutionary predecessors like Chen Zaidao in strategizing and fighting across vast distances.
