Chinese Kung Fu is profound and extensive. Before this film, Tai Chi had never been brought to the screen. The screenwriter Ni Kuang goes against the common belief that Tai Chi is merely an exercise for health, and officially showcases its power of attack. Young worker Gu Ding, a Tai Chi master, has been bullied by the gangster Jin Dasheng, enduring in silence. Jin also takes away his beloved Abao's life; he bears the humiliation, and in the end, his master and friend Hu Binglian are tragically killed by his own blade. Unable to endure any longer, he is forced to take action. When the film was released, it caused a sensation, as the male lead Chen Wolf, a Tai Chi master, suddenly died after completing the film, making Tai Chi his final work, leaving people lamenting.
