One of the Ten Tigers of Guangdong, the Young Abandoned Son is a legendary figure in the martial arts world of the Qing Dynasty. Several films based on his background and experiences have been released, and this film was made in 1985, directed by Lau Siu-Yu, written by Wong Jing, with Lau Ka-Fai portraying the young Su Can. The plot revolves around Su Can getting expelled from school for fighting with classmates and being forced to follow his mentor, Liang Hong (played by Bai Biao), to study. By chance, Su discovers Liang's exceptional skills and begs him to take him as a disciple. Later, Su's family is wiped out by the notorious thief Centipede (played by Wang Longwei), and Liang also falls victim to a plot by Centipede. The two later meet Xiao Ling and Ma Kun by chance. Xiao Ling and Su Can fall in love; however, during this time, Su Can is wrongfully imprisoned for patricide. In an attempt to save him, Xiao Ling loses her chastity to Captain Deng, leading to misunderstandings with Su Can. Meanwhile, with Ma Kun's help, Su Can escapes from prison and establishes a martial arts school in the provincial city with Ma Kun and Hao. Xiao Ling arrives in the provincial city and meets Ma Kun again, who professes his love for her. Discouraged about Su Can, Xiao Ling decides to accept Ma Kun.
