The story takes place during the Southern Song Dynasty, where Yue Fei heads north to fight against the Jurchens. The treacherous minister Qin Kuai colludes with the Jurchens, falsely claiming to have an imperial decree and forging golden medals to force Yue Fei to return to the court with his troops. The Huashan swordsman Miao Long (played by Yue Hua) learns of Qin Kuai's plot and leads a group of capable individuals to intercept the golden medals on the way and thwart the assassin sent by the Gathering of Heroes Hall to kill Yue Fei. When the Gathering of Heroes Hall loses its leader, Qin Kuai finds Jin Yantang (played by Jing Miao) from Huashan to be the new hall master, essentially making him his puppet.
