An unexpected incident in the Bungo-Sekizen domain led to Panyin losing two childhood friends. Heartbroken, Panyin decided to leave his hometown, bidding farewell to his fiancée Nao, and became a wandering, masterless samurai. In Edo, Panyin started his new life in a longhouse, and through the introduction of the landlord Kanbee, he worked as a helper in an eel shop during the day and as a bodyguard in the pawnshop owner Kimitsu's house at night. His gentle nature and outstanding swordsmanship gradually earned the trust of those around him and won the heart of Kanbee's daughter. Just at that moment, Panyin became embroiled in a conspiracy surrounding the new currency circulation of the shogunate. To protect the important people he met in Edo, Panyin must put aside his grief and confront the evil forces.
