Oscar (played by David Bennent) comes from a rather absurd family. His mother is in love with her own cousin, and since they can't marry due to their relation, she is forced to marry a businessman. Only his mother knows who Oscar's father is. On his third birthday, his mother gave him a tin drum. Oscar loved it dearly and played it all day long, hanging it around his neck. One day, while hiding under the table, Oscar discovered the secret between his mother and his uncle. He thought that the adult world was full of deception, so he decided not to grow up anymore. When Oscar jumped from the upstairs, a miracle happened—he stopped growing and would forever remain at the height of a three-year-old! Oscar also inadvertently gained a mysterious ability—a high-decibel scream. When he saw his mother rendezvousing with his uncle, he would climb the bell tower and shatter all the glass with his scream; when a teacher scolded him, his scream broke the teacher's glasses. Oscar maintained the height of a three-year-old as he gradually grew up.
