Bold (played by Cheng Kwun-on) leads a gang of thugs to rob the South African diamond king. They find middleman Li Yunfei (played by Chen Huimin) to sell the stolen diamonds, but during the deal, an internal conflict leads to a shootout where the buyer is killed, allowing Li Yunfei to escape amidst the chaos. Undercover agent Zhang Lang (played by Stephen Chow) faces misunderstandings with his girlfriend Zhou Wenli (played by Zhou Huimin) due to the special nature of his work. Zhang Lang wants to quit, but under pressure from his old boss Officer Li (played by Li Xiuxian), he has to approach Li Yunfei to investigate the diamond robbery case. Meanwhile, Li Yunfei is being hunted by Bold's gang, and Zhang Lang helps him escape, gaining Li Yunfei's trust. During their interactions, Zhang Lang gradually discovers that Li Yunfei, as an old-school figure, is loyal and righteous, leading them to become sworn brothers.
