Traveling musician Ignacio Carrillo (Marciano Martínez) decides to embark on a journey to find his teacher, Master Gra, after the death of his wife, to return a "devil" accordion with two black horns to him. The young rich man, Fumin Morales (Yull Núñez), insists on following Ignacio to learn the skill of playing the accordion, but the stubborn Ignacio refuses and claims Fumin lacks talent. The two travel on a donkey through the vast plains and rugged mountains of South America. When they run low on travel funds, Ignacio competes in music battles at festivals in passing towns to earn money. During one performance, Fumin discovers his drumming skills and receives a baptism of lizard blood from a mysterious tribe. Unhappy with Ignacio's arrogant demeanor, Fumin leaves in a huff but later discovers the "devil accordion" at a music festival in the nearby town of Guasila Island, while Ignacio goes missing... This film won the Rome City Award at the Cannes Film Festival, Best Colombian Film and Best Director at the Bogotá Film Festival, Best Colombian Film at the Cartagena Film Festival, and Best Spanish Language Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
