Daniel (Goran Kostic) and Ayla (Zana Marjanovic) are a deeply affectionate couple, but the intense conflict between their ethnic groups drives them apart. After separating from Ayla, Daniel follows his father, Nebojsa (Rade Serbedzija), and becomes an officer in the Serbian army.
