The handsome young Michael (played by Walter Slezak) is the exclusive model for the painter Sulet. Based on Michael, Sulet creates exquisite works of art, gaining fame and attracting countless visitors seeking his paintings. However, to preserve his beautiful memories with Michael, Sulet refuses to sell his masterpieces. A young and beautiful countess visits Sulet, requesting him to paint her portrait. Michael silently observes the countess, and a silent affection begins to grow between them. After some consideration, Sulet decides to paint the countess, but soon encounters a standstill as he struggles to depict her eyes. Michael picks up the brush and captures the countess's beautiful expression on the canvas... Michael and the countess fall in love and gradually drift away from Sulet, who suffers from the betrayal and deceit of the youth, pouring his inner sorrow into his artwork. The flame of life, tormented by loneliness, slowly fades… This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Hermann Borne, and is one of the earliest works in film history to address homosexual themes.
