Three mainland thieves arriving in Hong Kong rob a jewelry store during the day and are chased by police officers in a panic. One of them escapes into a building where another group of mainland criminals, long wanted by the police and heavily armed, is hiding. Soon after, the fate of the police major crime unit is unexpectedly entwined with these two gangs of criminals. Just when they think they have successfully killed the thug and can relax and celebrate, they encounter the two escaped thieves, leading to a chaotic battle that turns the situation very sudden. A love story that develops parallel to the police-civilian conflict also comes very suddenly. Major crime unit members Chung Kin (played by Andy Lau) and Lee Sun (played by Louis Koo) unexpectedly meet a restaurant owner they knew before while investigating the jewelry store robbery, leading to surprising speculation about whom her heart truly belongs to.
