“The Tiger's Door” refers to the entrance where actors appear in Cantonese opera. Crossing the Tiger's Door signifies fully committing oneself to the performance. Leng Jianxin (played by Siu Fong Fong) is a renowned Cantonese opera diva with a career spanning thirty years and a huge fan base. Now faced with her husband's failed career and the desire to immigrate to Australia with her family, Jianxin must decide whether to leave the stage for good. At the same time, she is also entangled in household matters, as her daughter has developed a “girlfriend” relationship, a fact that is hard to accept, even though she plays male roles on stage. Coincidentally, a new young actress in the troupe, Ye Yushuang (played by Yuan Yongyi), catches Jianxin's attention due to her potential, but Jianxin witnesses her being abused by her adoptive father and decides to take her in as her goddaughter. Meanwhile, Ye Yushuang's boyfriend A Jun (played by Chen Xiaodong), who has come from Canada to see her, turns out to be Jianxin's illegitimate son from her past in Nanyang, bringing back memories of when she gave up raising her son for the stage… Finally, at a farewell performance, Jianxin, choked with emotion and unable to go on stage, leaves the Tiger's Door with tears in her eyes…
