Elizabeth (played by Norah Jones) is heartbroken after being abandoned by her boyfriend and throws her keys in a coffee shop. The shop owner, Jeremy (played by Jude Law), keeps many keys, each hiding a sad story. Elizabeth loves the blueberry pie that no one orders in the shop and decides one night to leave New York and travel across America. Along the way, she meets a separated couple who deeply love each other yet are trapped in their situation, and a carefree girl who enjoys gambling but rarely visits her father (played by Natalie Portman). In each place she visits, she writes Jeremy a postcard. Through others' experiences, Elizabeth discovers the essence of love and returns to New York, finding Jeremy waiting for her, ready to happily enjoy another slice of blueberry pie and embrace the joy of love.
