The story takes place in a small village in Estonia inhabited by pagans, where werewolves, plagues, and ghosts run rampant. To survive the cold and dark winter, the villagers steal without restraint. They sell their conscience and scour for a creature called "Kurata" that can assist them in their thefts, even when their barns are overflowing. The film's heroine is a young farm girl named Lina, who hopelessly falls in love with a boy in the village named Hans. Her desire for the boy transforms her into a werewolf, and she jumps into the icy waters. She is ready to sacrifice herself for love...
