In front of others and behind their backs, Roger (played by Campbell Scott) dutifully plays the role of a playboy; wherever he goes, he proudly boasts about his ability to mesmerize women. However, it is only when reality clashes with his dreams that Roger realizes that everything is not as perfect as he imagined. He claims to have seduced the beautiful boss, but he is merely her plaything, and when she kicks him to the curb, he has no right to complain. After such a blow, Roger's passion for life seems to fade away, but just then, he learns that his nephew Nick (played by Jesse Eisenberg) is coming to visit. Nick is a 16-year-old boy, completely inexperienced with women, making him like a blank slate. This reignites Roger's fighting spirit, as he can once again play the role of a love guru in front of this naïve teenager.
