Megan (played by Barbara Stanwyck) and her fiancé Jones (played by Walter Connolly) are about to step into the halls of marriage together. Jones is a devout Christian, and to support his missionary work, Megan follows him to China. In an unexpected turn of events, they accidentally enter a military restricted area, where they meet General Yan (played by Nils Asther), leading to a deep friendship among the three. Over time, General Yan gradually falls in love with the innocent and cheerful Megan, and their relationship becomes closer. However, General Yan suffers a severe setback in his career, leading to betrayal and abandonment. In this crisis, Megan chooses to stand by General Yan without leaving. Unfortunately, General Yan mistakenly believes that Megan's actions are for the sake of her fiancé, which creates a rift in their feelings for each other.
