In the 1980s, a 12-year-old boy named Watarai Satoru (played by Gaku Hamada), who grew up in a housing complex, makes a significant decision after graduating from elementary school: he will spend his life within the well-equipped housing complex and will never step into the outside world. In response, Satoru's mother (played by Nene Otsuka) seems to fully support his decision, merely watching over this peculiar-thinking boy as he gradually grows stronger and more independent. Over the years, Satoru sticks strictly to his schedule, idolizes the Kyokushin Karate master Mas Oyama, and vows to protect all his friends in the housing complex. As time passes, the 107 classmates from Satoru's elementary school leave the housing complex one by one. During this time, he experiences life's ups and downs with his childhood friend Matsushima Ari (played by Haru), his best friend Sonoda Nobuaki (played by Ayato Nagayama), and his girlfriend Ogata Saki (played by Kana Kurashina). The housing complex becomes increasingly desolate, and it quickly becomes apparent that Satoru has already become isolated… This film is adapted from the original work by Takehiko Kubodera.
