After 30 years since breaking up with John, Marianne vaguely feels that John still needs her, so she decides to visit this old man she hasn't seen in 30 years at his countryside home. He lives a comfortable but isolated life, and between them, despite the many years that have passed, the feelings they once had remain very real. There, Marianne meets John's son Enrique from his first marriage, as well as Enrique's 21-year-old daughter Karina, who lives not far from John's house. However, the three generations do not seem to coexist harmoniously; Marianne feels Karina's love for her father Enrique and John's dissatisfaction with his son, and there exists an apparent inability to bridge the emotional chasm and the complex feelings of love and hate among these three lonely souls.
