The film retells a tragic story from the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup in Paris during World War II through the perspective of journalist Julia (played by Kristin Scott Thomas). In 1942, under German occupation, Paris was ordered to hand over its Jewish residents. Ten-year-old Sarah (played by Mélusine Mayance) and her family are among those caught in this tragedy. As the military searches for them, Sarah secretly locks her younger brother in their home’s wardrobe, carefully keeping the key with the hope that he will be safe from the German soldiers. However, Sarah, yearning for the concentration camp, realizes that their departure will not be brief, and she desperately escapes from the camp to return to their old home. But what greets her is not only the new residents who have moved in but also the tragic fate of her brother who has perished in the wardrobe. Due to her work, Julia is tasked with uncovering this story. In the course of her interviews, she discovers not only the truths that were hidden but also her intricate and seemingly destined connection to Sarah's family.
