Every dream has a price; what are you willing to trade for it? By day, she works as a telephone operator, and by night, she performs at clubs. With her unique voice, Monica gradually breaks into New York's upscale nightclubs, becoming the hottest female star during the golden jazz era of the 1960s! However, the hedonistic chaos and all-night parties that accompany her fame lead her to gradually lose herself. Faced with her parents' misunderstanding and the departure of her loved ones, the empty and desolate Monica can only greet the dawn with the wine glass in her hand. Is pursuing a dream necessarily a painful sacrifice...? About savoring the fragrance of violets, a brilliant life emerging from ordinary beginnings. "Monica Zetterlund" is set against the backdrop of the golden jazz era of the 1960s, intertwining classic songs to condense Monica's dramatically colorful rise to fame into a span of 1-2 years. Through a focus on key events, it delicately portrays the dilemma between dreams and family, as well as the anxiety and desire for love. Nordic singer Edda Magnason crosses into film, bringing her warm and cool unique Nordic charm to recreate timeless elegance. Born in 1937 in Sweden, Monica Zetterlund was not fluent in English and learned by listening to the radio and records, gradually capturing the melodies, rhythms, and sensibilities of jazz. The artists who influenced her the most were jazz icons Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. After hearing the question, "Why do you sing someone else's song instead of expressing your own life?" she began to reinterpret classic jazz songs in Swedish, unexpectedly soaring to fame from that moment on. But beneath the glamorous stage life, Monica suffered from severe scoliosis. At the age of 60, she performed at a popular rock music festival, captivating a young rock audience with her unique jazz charm, before announcing her retirement two years later. Monica spent her last years in a wheelchair and passed away in May 2005 due to a fire caused by a cigarette in her Stockholm apartment.
