Chuck (played by Tom Hanks) works for FedEx, and his job as a systems engineer dictates a life that is busy, disciplined, and filled with a sense of urgency. Chuck manages to fit all his work neatly into his daily schedule, with time under his control. The only thing he neglects is his girlfriend Kelly (played by Helen Hunt). A plane crash changes everything. Everyone believes Chuck perished in the disaster, but in fact, he survives, stranded on a deserted island.
