Driven by her love for painting, Kōgen Natsumi (played by Kitanō Kii), who lives freely in a coastal town, leaves her hometown to study at an art university in Tokyo. In the international metropolis where every inch of land is precious, to afford tuition, rent, and living expenses, Natsumi, through an introduction, begins working as a waitress in a nightclub. With her simple personality, she has to navigate through frivolous and greasy customers, surviving by selling her smiles. During this time, she meets a boy named Ryōsuke (played by Ikematsu Sōta) and they end up living together. However, Ryōsuke is unambitious and lives off Natsumi, leading the girl, who is burdensed by financial pressures, to grow increasingly irritable. Additionally, her grades at the art school are at the bottom, and her submissions to various publishers are continuously rejected, forcing Natsumi to seriously reconsider whether her initial decision to move to Tokyo was correct. During this time, her senior at the nightclub, Ayuki (played by Seto Asaka), and her daughter Saki (played by Tanigawa Kanon) provide her with rare courage and encouragement, motivating Natsumi to take a new step towards her future... This film is adapted from the autobiographical work of Japanese "bad-boy" manga artist Nishihara Rieko, which is regarded as part of a trilogy alongside "Girl's Story" and "Business Story."
