In the Republican era. Four drunken men from the capital, Zhao Daman (Jiang Wu), Qian Erbao (Liu Yuntong), Sun Sanqiang (Zhang Yue), and Li Biao (He Bing), witness progressive intellectuals and their daughter being killed in the streets. Enraged, they kill the murderer, leading to great trouble— the victim is the only son of the infamous traitor Jiang Shiqi. While fleeing from Jiang's henchmen, they unexpectedly receive money and a map of Jiang's residence delivered by the housekeeper (Ren Ming). Although they do not understand the intention behind it, they decide to kill Jiang Shiqi immediately. At the moment of action, Zhao Biao learns that his wife and child have been kidnapped by Jiang Shiqi, and he courageously arrives at Jiang's residence but becomes trapped. Zhao Daman, in extreme panic, hides in a small shop and is taken in by the alluring shopkeeper. Qian Erbao and Sun Sanqiang wait for their brothers to return, but when they encounter Jiang's henchmen again, they are in dire straits until Jiang Shiqi's disciple, Ouyang Jiedan (Yuan Yin), rescues them. They then realize the housekeeper's ulterior motive to use them as pawns to seize Jiang's wealth. The three later go to Qian Erbao's hometown, but Jiang's henchmen follow, leading to a fierce battle.
