At the end of the Cultural Revolution, various media were filled with extreme leftist rhetoric and endless lies. Fu Bin (played by Li Zhiyu), who had just been transferred back to the newspaper from a reeducation school, was very troubled by this. His colleague, reporter Li (played by Shi Jiufeng), advised him to take things lightly and not to be too serious, but the conscience of a journalist continually tormented Fu Bin.
