In 1964, our country will conduct the first atomic bomb explosion test in the western area of the Lop Nur. After aerial reconnaissance, relevant personnel discovered a group of people and livestock active within the restricted area of the test site from the developed aerial photographs. At this point, there were only three days left until the detonation. Experts from various sectors of the nuclear base convened a meeting and unanimously agreed that the detonation time could not be changed, and that someone should be sent into the desert to rescue the people before the detonation. After hearing the report, Premier Yin also instructed: This must not become a second Hiroshima! When the small team was ordered to enter the Taklamakan Desert area for search, they suddenly saw a girl and a boy playing. As the team members were about to approach them, the girl and boy fled on horseback. After chasing for a while, the small team encountered a group of bandits marked with the Kuomintang symbol by the riverbank. The team members put down their guns and were taken into the bandit camp, where they were shocked to discover that there were actually old people, women, and children there. The girl on horseback was the daughter of the bandit leader Bai Yuhua. Inside the leader's tent, Captain Liu Jian earnestly explained to the other side that a nuclear test would take place here tomorrow, but the leader did not believe him. After sending Liu out, Bai Yuhua felt very conflicted and did not know whether to trust the words of this stranger. The bandit’s underling Tie Ying intended to take the small team soldiers to a remote place, but Liu Jian and deputy captain Wang Longsheng sought an opportunity to reclaim their weapons. Bai Yuhua accepted Liu Jian's suggestion but proposed to retreat in the opposite direction. To show his intention to reduce tension, Liu Jian agreed. The small team and the bandits remained on guard as they set off. On the way, the bandit Ma Chun's wife began to bleed heavily during childbirth, and Liu Jian and the soldiers donated blood to save her, touching many of the bandits. Tie Ying still harbored hatred for the liberators; he deliberately incited a riot, resulting in the death of several small team soldiers, but Tie Ying was also killed, and the remaining bandits were disarmed and forced to advance with the small team. After a day and night of hurried marching, everyone was exhausted. At this moment, the sound of an engine could be heard from the sky, as a rescue helicopter was sent from the base. Only a few minutes remained before the detonation time. Liu Feng quickly urged all the bandits onto the helicopter. Shortly after the helicopter took off, a mushroom cloud began to rise. At this point, Bai Yuhua and the others finally believed Liu Jian’s words and could not help but break down in tears.
