AKUN (played by Andy Lau) has long monopolized the heroin market. Although he sees Ali (played by Daniel Wu) as his successor after over 8 years of following him, AKUN has always acted cautiously and has never revealed the location of the "warehouse" or the processing plant, nor has he met any other "colleagues." AKUN plans to hand over full control of his business to Ali, who gradually learns more secrets of the drug market. Over the past 8 years, Ali has gathered all the information on drug dealers while working undercover, but he develops feelings for the drug user Ah Fen (played by Zhang Jingchu). Ah Fen's situation makes him feel even more confused about his identity as an outsider. Through struggle and determination, Ali eventually earns AKUN's complete trust, bringing an end to 8 years of pursuit.
