Uncle Boonmee (played by Thanapat Saisaymar) is suffering from acute kidney failure, so he returns to his village to rest and await the arrival of death. In the countryside, he quietly eats, relaxes, and watches his family work every day. On a cool summer night, Uncle Boonmee, his nephew, and his sister-in-law are having dinner and chatting in the yard when the long-deceased wife of Uncle Boonmee unexpectedly appears, sharing her recent experiences and years of longing. Later, Uncle Boonmee's long-missing son also shows up, transformed into a red-eyed black-haired gorilla, yet no one is frightened. The few people from the other side of life chat peacefully, a tranquil orchard, a gentle breeze, and bees working calmly every day; everything that happens feels so natural, every scene was already there, every story feels like a dream... The film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
