Luca Floris (played by Kim Rossi Stuart) grew up in Africa, where his father often traveled for work, leaving him and his mother to cope with loneliness and longing. One day, his mother was killed under a car, and witnessing this tragedy left Luca with a deep emotional scar. As an adult, Luca returned to Italy and became a renowned jazz pianist. His jazz, infused with African elements, made him very popular, achieving international fame. However, the glory he experienced in public could not heal the pain he carried in private. Luca struggled to open up to anyone and maintained a cold distance from the world, leading his emotions into a vicious cycle. As he aged, guilt over his mother gradually consumed his life, and his music harbored much suffering. Yet, eventually even music could not bear it all. At the age of 38, after recording his final solo piece "How Far Can You Fly," he chose to end his life by hanging... This film is adapted from the biography of Italian jazz piano poet Luca Flores.
